Another good book is Dvoretsky endgame manual which i do have and this covers all endgames including rooks. I bought a used copy of 'Training for the Tournament Player' by Mark Dvoretsky & Artur Yusupov. They're good enough (and modern enough!) to supplant My System and Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual, IMHO. Amateur's Mind and Complete Endgame Course. I started to wonder how many Dvoretsky books there are and came up with the following list • Secrets of Chess Training (Batsford 1991) • Secrets of Chess Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual (Russell Enterprises 2006) Note the two series. I wholeheartedly endorse this - Reassess and Amateur's Mind are both incredibly useful, and the endgame book have a lovely approach to sequencing that lets you absorb what you need without your head exploding. @Tomasz Chessthinker Obviously there have been three attempts to do exactly this type of book.
